Since the last newsletter in May, it seems as if the world has changed again and that the headwinds against diversity, equity, and inclusion work continue to mount and grow stronger. This is not the direction we want to see, and yet here we are. While it is understandable to feel some level of defeat and shock over the recent circumstances and decisions, it is a clear sign that the work being done by those committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion is even more important.
One of the tangible benefits of Together We Grow is the community of committed people pulling in the same direction for progress and change in the agriculture and food sector. Our members recognize that diversity is not just a buzzword but a catalyst for innovation, resilience, and sustainable growth needed to feed a growing population and address climate impacts. Through our collective efforts, we can actively foster a landscape that embraces the power of diverse perspectives, experiences, and talents, and we can build a foundation where every individual has an opportunity to thrive and contribute to the agriculture and food system.
If your energy around this work has been impacted by the recent and ongoing activity in our society and legal system, you are not alone. However, I encourage you to lean into the network you have through this organization, Together We Grow, to re-energize, and to keep moving forward.
Better together!
